HISTORIC DISTRICT ISSUES

PROPOSED CONDO - 2006

In 2006, a developer proposed a large condo project on South Main Street south of Boone's Lick Rd.

South Main Preservation Society members, dedicated to protecting the character of the Historic District, contributed private funding to retain an attorney and spent many, many hours of their time in the effort to stop the proposed zoning changes to accommodate this massive project that contradicted protective zoning in place, the Architectural Guidelines for the South Main Historic District, the Comprehensive Plan, the Riverfront Concept Plan.

The outcome: After many meetings and oppostion by those dedicated to the preservation and protection of the Historic District, the developer withdrew the proposal.
